The stock exchange in Iran has a history of over 50 years. The Tehran stock exchange which is the biggest Stock Exchange market of Iran, has established in 1967.

As of today, more than 500 companies with the total capital of More than $150 billion are listed in the Tehran stock exchange which is a founding member of the Federation of Euro-Asia Stock Exchange.

The number of different industries which participate in the Tehran stock Exchange, in comparison to the other the countries in Middle East is fabulous. More than 37 industries are active in the Tehran stock exchange such as vehicle manufacturer, telecommunication, food and hygienic, oil and petrochemical, mining, steel, copper and banking and financing.

In the recent years, most of the state-owned companies have been changed to the private companies who are playing a very important role in the stock exchange market of Iran. Due to the strong background of such companies, people normally tend to buy the shares of the newly privatized companies.

 

The legal structure of Tehran Stock Exchange

The Securities & Exchange Council is the top authority that is in charge of the general policies, strategies of market and controlling the exchange market in Iran. The Chairman of the Council is the Minister of Economic of Iran.

The Securities and Exchange Organization is in charge of the day to day business activities as well as the administrative affairs which is led by the Board of Directors. The most important duty of the Organization is regulation and development of the Stock Exchange in Iran.
